Field Lab
Real, pro-bono and learning projects where Jack puts his CWI training to work
The Field Lab is where we practice: small, real projects that build hands-on skills and industry exposure. Each case study shows the method, what the data showed and what we learned, with no results we can’t back up.
Case study 1 · October 2026
With a fellow seismology enthusiast, we ran the open-source easyQuake toolkit on one day of data (Oct 21, 2026) from our Raspberry Shake station AM.R1CFD in High Valley, Idaho, together with nearby public network stations.

Skills practiced: seismic data handling, phase picking and QC, earthquake location basics, Python data tools. Preliminary, informal analysis; not an official catalog.
Log practice core and compute recovery and RQD with our field tools. Details coming.
Work example slopes with the RMR89 and infinite-slope calculators on the tools page. Details coming.
To be announced.
Jack is looking for learning projects: field data, core photos, seismic records or small pro-bono questions.
